Inchon Port Authority(IPA) has recently opened a new regular container service route. According to IPA, so-called 'KPS' service co-operated by 3 container lines including Hueng-A Shipping, STX Panocean and CNC entered into service in line with their first vessel coming into the port on 11st March.
The weekly service route turns round the ports in sequence of 'Inchon-Busan-Kwangyang-Shanghai-Manila-Hochiminh-Hong Kong-Shekou-Inchon' and each shipping line deploys 1 unit of vessel(total 3 units). The discharging operation is undertaken by Sunkwang Inchon Container Terminal(SICT) in the South Port.
Actually 'M/V Corvette' affiliated to CNC berthed at SICT at 9:00 A.M. on 11st and left for the next port of call the following day.
Then IPA and SICT welcomed the first calling of Corvette and asked shipping lines for more vessels and cargoes. IPA expects that KPS service will be able to bring about roughly 1,000 TEUs of container traffic for every calling, thus total 32,000 TEUs of new traffic over the next 32 weeks.
A staff of IPA said "We will ask Hochiminh's Saigon Port and Phillipine Port Authority, our sisterhood ports, to give support to KPS service for its activation. Meantime we are going to promote service campaign targeting exporters and importers in intra Asian region."
